NEPSE falls 16.29 points to 2,672 as all sector indices decline

The stock market extended its losing streak for a fourth straight trading session, with benchmark indices and turnover both declining amid broad-based selling.

The stock market continued its downward trend on Thursday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index falling 16.29 points to close at 2,672.58, marking the fourth consecutive session of losses. The benchmark has now shed 62 points over the first four trading days of the week.

All 13 sectoral indices ended in negative territory, reflecting broad-based weakness across the market. The Hydropower index recorded the steepest decline, falling 1.20%, followed by the Development Bank index, which dropped 1.12%. Banking, Finance, Hotels & Tourism, Insurance, Manufacturing, Microfinance, and other sectors also posted losses.

Market turnover declined alongside the index. Daily trading volume fell from NRs 4.02 billion on Wednesday to NRs 3.38 billion on Thursday.

Out of the traded companies, share prices of 206 declined, while 59 advanced and 11 remained unchanged.

Everest Color emerged as the day's top gainer, hitting the 15% positive circuit. Central Finance, Shubham Power, and Taragaon Regency also posted gains.

On the losing side, Kalinchowk Hydropower hit the 15% negative circuit, while Corporate Development Bank dropped 12.68%. Solu Hydropower and Ridgeline Energy also recorded notable declines.

In terms of turnover, Reliance Spinning Mills led the market with shares worth NRs 243.8 million traded, followed by Corporate Development Bank with NRs 153.3 million.
