New alternative routes, traffic schedule announced for Kathmandu–Hetauda route

Authorities have introduced alternative routes and a new traffic schedule for vehicles traveling between Kathmandu and Hetauda revising Tuesday’s schedule.

The routes were designated through coordination between the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office and the District Administration Office in Makwanpur, considering monsoon conditions and the current state of the roads.

According to Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police spokesperson Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, small vehicles traveling from Kathmandu to Hetauda will take the Pharping–Phakhel–Kulekhani–Bhimfedi route.

Small vehicles traveling from Hetauda to Kathmandu will use the Bhimfedi–Kulekhani–Sisneri–Dakshinkali route before entering the capital.

For large and freight vehicles heading from Kathmandu to Hetauda, authorities have designated the Chapagaun–Bhattedanda–Thingan route. Vehicles using this route must cross the Thingan checkpoint by 6 pm.

Meanwhile, large and freight vehicles traveling from Hetauda to Kathmandu will follow the Bhaise–Palung–Tistung–Naubise route.

Traffic police have urged fuel tankers and heavy freight vehicles not to use the Bailey bridge near Trikhandi in Makwanpur, citing concerns over its weak load-bearing capacity.

SP Subedi said heavy freight vehicles have instead been instructed to use the diversion located beside the Bailey bridge.

Authorities said the alternative arrangements have been introduced to facilitate safer and smoother traffic between Kathmandu and Hetauda amid difficult road conditions during the monsoon.
