NEPSE slips for second straight day as turnover falls to NRs 4.43 billion

The index declined 4.64 points to 2,696.67 on Tuesday, while daily turnover dropped to NRs 4.43 billion as losers outnumbered gainers despite strong performances by a handful of stocks.

The stock market extended its losing streak for a second consecutive session on Tuesday, with the NEPSE index falling 4.64 points to close at 2,696.67, as trading activity weakened and declines outpaced gains.

Total market turnover fell to NRs 4.43 billion, down from NRs 5.90 billion in the previous session. Investors traded 104.2 million shares of 342 listed securities during the day.

Of the listed companies, 166 closed lower, 98 advanced and 13 remained unchanged, reflecting continued cautious investor sentiment.

Nine of the 13 sectoral indices ended in negative territory, while Finance, Hotels & Tourism, Hydropower and Trading posted gains.

Everest Color was the day's biggest winner, surging 15% to NRs 861 per share, while Laxmi Unnati Fund climbed 9.10% to NRs 10.91 per unit.

On the downside, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower recorded the steepest decline, shedding 6.07% to NRs 960 per share. Siddhartha Equity Fund also fell 5.87% to NRs 9.79 per unit.

Central Finance led the market by turnover with shares worth NRs 271.4 million traded, followed by Ridi Power at NRs 212.1 million and Solu Hydropower at NRs 190 million.
