The benchmark stock index extended its gains for a third consecutive session on Thursday, although the pace of growth slowed from the previous day.
The NEPSE index rose 4.66 points, or 0.18%, to close at 2,542.77. The index had gained 15.44 points on Wednesday and 9.24 points on Tuesday.
Trading turnover increased to NRs 3.46 billion from NRs 2.94 billion a day earlier. A total of 12.16 million shares of 346 securities were traded through 40,692 transactions.
Share prices of 145 companies increased, while 123 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
Of the 13 sectoral indices, four closed lower. The finance, hydropower, non-life insurance and other sectors declined, while the remaining nine sectors posted gains.
The investment sector recorded the largest gain, rising 1.26%, followed by the trading sector, which increased 1.09%.
Among individual stocks, Wean Nepal Laghubitta recorded the biggest gain, rising 8.76% to NRs 1,055 per share. Chirkhwa Hydropower gained 8.56% to NRs 615.
Pure Energy recorded the largest decline, falling 13.33% to NRs 662, while Atmanirbhar Laghubitta dropped 6.10% to NRs 5,023.50.
Reliance Spinning Mills was the most actively traded company, with turnover of NRs 409 million. Its share price rose 5.01% to NRs 2,830.
Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower recorded turnover of NRs 133.2 million, followed by Solu Hydropower at NRs 128.6 million.
The latest gain marks a continued recovery after the market declined for three consecutive sessions following the Bhotekoshi flood. However, Thursday’s smaller gain compared with the previous two sessions suggests that the pace of the recovery has moderated.
