The stock market closed higher on Thursday, with the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gaining 14.17 points to settle at 2,726.72 points. However, trading activity weakened as total turnover declined compared to the previous session.
Shares worth NRs 4.69 billion were traded during the day, down from NRs 5.18 billion recorded on Wednesday. Investors exchanged 10.07 million shares of 338 listed securities.
Market sentiment remained positive, with 153 companies recording gains, while 111 companies saw their share prices decline and 12 remained unchanged.
Everest Color was the top gainer of the session, with its share price rising 14.99% to NRs 566.20 per share. Snow Rivers gained 13.71%, closing at NRs 995 per share, while Apollo Hydro advanced 11.04%.
On the losing side, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower recorded the largest decline, falling 15% to NRs 1,045.50 per share. Bungal Hydro dropped 9.93% to close at NRs 635.
Reliance Spinning Mills recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth NRs 283.3 million traded. The company’s share price, however, declined 4.48% to NRs 3,516 per share. Aankhu Khola Jalvidhyut followed with a turnover of NRs 275.2 million, while Ridi Power Company recorded transactions worth NRs 249.2 million.
Among the 13 sectoral indices, 11 closed in positive territory, while the Investment and Others sub-indices ended lower. The Trading sector posted the strongest performance, gaining 2.58% and leading the market’s advance.
