Kathmandu this week with AWS conference, fight night, reading circle, camping and more

Continuous rain and blooming Jacarandas around the city has marked the month of May, also considered as the month of flowers. For cinephiles, “Lalibazaar”, “Michael” and “Devil wears prada 2” have been part of the conversation lately. AWS Community Day Nepal 2026 

AWS, a widely used cloud platform offering services through data centers around the world is bringing its local conference. The event is expected to host over 400 attendees and more than 17 speakers bringing together cloud enthusiasts, developers, architects and industry leaders from Nepal and across South Asia.
This conference will feature sessions on cloud, AI/ML, DevOps, Security, and real world implementations aiming to support Nepal’s builder ecosystem and strengthen its position as a growing hub for cloud innovation.

Theatre Reading Circle

If you’re looking for something refreshing, a space to learn, connect and discuss, this could be perfect for you. Phulbari Playback Theatre in collaboration with Photo Circle, is hosting its second theatre reading circle of the month. 

This edition will focus on Gerry Orkin’s piece, Playback Theatre and the Sociological Imagination, published in Playback Theatre Reflects. The discussion will explore Orkin’s work as well as his long involvement in playback theatres since 1985.

EFS Fight Night 8

The week also makes space for some thrills with EFS Fight Night 8. Promising an authentic Muay Thai experience, the event will feature top fighters showcasing their skills at the WBC Muay Thai National Championship. 

Muay Thai is a traditional combat sport from Thailand and a stand up combat art, popularly known as “the art of the eight limbs” due to the use of punch, kick, elbows and knees.

John and the locals

If you’re around Kirtipur, you should get ready for a musical evening. 

Ramailo Event Management is hosting “Hami Ek Hau: John and the Locals Live” on 16th of May. Hailing from Dharan, “John and the locals” has created a wave in Nepali music industry with their sound of folk-pop and rock. They’re rapidly rising and soon to be performing at Sa:Sa Twa, Kirtipur.

Camping Adventure

Grassland Festival
