In this first episode of the FSi podcast with Gaurab Shumsher Thapa, an analyst/researcher in the field of international relations (IR), Gaurab shares some foundational understanding of the broader themes of International Relations.
The podcast also touches upon the history of Nepal's IR, the essence of soft power, national interest, and the principle of Panchasheel.
Gaurab's key areas of interest include foreign policy and diplomatic history of Nepal, foreign policy of Nepal vis-à-vis India, China, and the United States, geopolitics, and South Asian politics.
He holds an MA in International Relations and Diplomacy from Tribhuvan University and has published various articles related to international relations for international platforms including Asia Times (Hong Kong), South Asian Voices (Stimson Center, USA), and East Asia Forum (Australian National University) where he also reviews their articles.
Thapa is also an executive member at Nepal Council of World Affairs (NCWA) and President and Managing Director at the Nepal Forum of International Relations Studies (NEPAL FIRST).
