Death toll climbs to 359

132 bodies are recovered in Chitwan

The death toll from the Bhotekoshi–Trishuli floods has reached 359, according to the Nepal Police.

Police said that by 5 p.m. Thursday, bodies had been recovered in eight affected districts. Chitwan recorded the highest number of deaths with 132, followed by Nawalparasi East with 82 and Dhading with 33.

The number of bodies recovered by district is:

Chitwan: 132
Nawalparasi East: 82
Dhading: 33
Gorkha: 30
Nuwakot: 28
Tanahun: 22
Rasuwa: 17
Nawalparasi West: 15

The Department of Tourism has also reported that 668 tourists remain missing after flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa. The department has released a list of the tourists, including their names. The missing include 327 women.

Of the missing tourists, 178 are Indian nationals, 127 Nepali, 65 American, 35 Australian and 25 Canadian, according to the department.
