A workshop on painting

“10 Days Canvas Painting Workshop with Acrylic Paint” is designed for beginner and intermediate art practitioners (aged above 16), focusing on different painting techniques, approaches and colour theory required for Acrylic painting. The registration is open until January 18.

Bahuriya

Bahuriya is a play that portrays the lives of a man and a woman and how their differences, social pressures and conflict affect their lives. Written and directed by Suraj Yadav, with Sarita Giri as its creative director, the play opens on January 22 at Mandala Theatre.

Queer Film Festival

The second edition of Nepal’s only festival dedicated to queer narratives started on January 15, featuring workshops and national and international films. It is a 10 day-event, and continues until January 24.

Echoes in the Valley

Echoes in the Valley is a folk music festival that brings together a wide range of traditional, folk, and indigenous sounds from Nepal and around the world. Running since 2017, the festival celebrates its 10th edition this year, featuring diverse performers such as Arko Mukherjee, a folk musician and researcher from Kolkata, Nepal’s only gypsy jazz band Hot Club of Patan, and more.

An Ode To The Valley

It is a solo exhibition of paintings by Samrat Joshi drawing inspiration from the mythology, material traditions and collective labour that shaped the Kathmandu Valley. The exhibition is happening at Siddhartha Art Gallery.

In-Between

“In-Between” is another solo exhibition by Chenxi Xu, a multidisciplinary artist whose primary focus is painting. Working across paintings, performance, and digital media, she explores colours, form, mood, expression, and has exhibited her work across China and Europe.
