The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a wind gust warning, updating both the timing of an approaching wind gust and the districts likely to be affected.

According to a special bulletin issued at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, strong winds are expected to begin at 4:00 PM today and continue until 6:45 AM tomorrow.

The wind gust is likely to impact several regions across the country. In Sudurpaschim Province, Kanchanpur, Dadeldhura, and Doti are expected to be affected. In Lumbini Province, Bardiya, Banke, Dang, Arghakhanchi, and Parasi may also see strong winds.

Other vulnerable areas include Nawalpur in Gandaki Province and the Chitwan region in Bagmati Province. In Madhesh Province, Bara, Parsa, and Dhanusha are at risk, while Jhapa and Morang in Koshi Province could also experience severe conditions.

According to the department, the wind system, which developed over India, is moving eastward into Nepal and has already reached the far-western region. At the same time, a low-pressure system has formed in the eastern part of the country. The interaction between these systems is expected to intensify weather conditions nationwide.

Along with strong winds, the system may bring thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and moderate to heavy rainfall as it moves from west to east.

Authorities have urged the public to take precautions. People are advised to stay indoors during the wind gust, close doors and windows securely, and reinforce weak structures, especially rooftops. Avoid standing near tall trees, electric poles, or unstable structures. There is also a risk of flying debris.

The department further forecasts widespread rainfall with thunder and lightning across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with some areas in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim also expected to receive rain. A few hilly regions, particularly in Koshi and Gandaki, may experience heavy rainfall.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue into the night, with possible rain, thunderstorms, and hail in both hilly and lowland (Terai) regions of several provinces.
