The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index remained unchanged on Wednesday, edging down by 1.64 points to close at 2,711. The market had closed at 2,712 in the previous session, reflecting a largely stable but cautious trading environment.
Turnover declined compared to the previous day, with total transactions amounting to NRs 3.19 billion, down from NRs 3.43 billion on Tuesday. A total of 7.13 million shares of 336 listed companies were traded.
Market breadth tilted negative, as 149 companies recorded losses while 104 posted gains and 15 remained unchanged.
Forward Microfinance emerged as the top gainer, with its share price jumping 13.74% to NRs 1,300. Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower also saw a notable rise of 5.95%, closing at NRs 570 per share. On the downside, Bhagwati Hydropower led the losers, dropping 8.90% to NRs 628.60, followed by Narayani Development Bank, which declined 7.27% to NRs 1,020.
In terms of trading activity, Solu Hydropower recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth NRs 221.1 million traded at NRs 711 per unit, slightly down by 1.04%. Reliance Spinning Mills followed, with transactions totaling NRs 160.7 million at NRs 3,689 per share.
Despite the marginal dip in the index, sectoral performance remained mixed, with eight out of 13 sub-indices posting gains while the rest declined slightly.
