The stock market declined on Friday, with the NEPSE index falling 10.67 points to close at 2,618.72. In total, the market slipped by 25 points this week compared to its Friday closing.
Trading activity also weakened, with turnover dropping to NRs 4.16 billion from NRs 4.40 billion on Thursday.
A total of 122,765 shares of 344 listed securities changed hands during the session. Share prices of 70 companies increased, while 198 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
Hydropower stocks dominated trading, accounting for around NRs 2.50 billion, or roughly 60% of total market turnover. Commercial banks recorded NRs 330 million in turnover, while manufacturing and processing companies accounted for about NRs 420 million.
Among the biggest gainers, Sarbottam Paints surged 14.99% to NRs 797.60 per share, while Panchakanya Mai Hydropower rose 13.86% to NRs 345.90. Rapti Hydro and General Construction and Hathway Investment also posted notable gains.
Dhaulagiri Laghubitta recorded the steepest decline, falling 5.26% to NRs 1,027 per share. Suryakunda Hydro Electric and Gramin Bikas Laghubitta were among the other major decliners.
Reliance Spinning Mills was the most actively traded company, with shares worth NRs 263.7 million changing hands at NRs 2,775 per share, down 0.32% from the previous session. Solu Hydropower ranked second, recording NRs 245.3 million in turnover at NRs 686 per share.
Of the 13 sectoral indices, only the mutual fund index gained. The remaining 12 sectors declined, with the Others index posting the largest drop of 1.06%.
