The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index ended Friday’s trading session on a positive note, rising by 5.36 points to close at 2,838.40.
The market was lifted by gains in key sectors, including hotels and tourism, hydropower, manufacturing and processing, trading, and other subgroups. A total of 108 listed companies saw their share prices increase during the session, indicating a broadly positive market breadth.
Five companies hit the daily positive circuit limit: Suryakunda Hydroelectric, Hotel Forest Inn, Palpa Cement Industries, Shikhar Power Development, and Ridgeline Energy. A total of 150 companies declined, 108 advanced, and 12 remained unchanged.
Total turnover for the day reached Rs 7.46 billion. National Hydropower Company led trading activity with Rs 668.63 million in turnover, followed by Solu Hydropower at Rs 372.6 million and Ridi Power Company.
In contrast, Asian Hydropower was the day’s biggest loser, falling 4.54%.
Overall, the market closed slightly higher, supported by selective buying in hydropower and tourism-related stocks despite mixed performance across individual scrips.
The weekly turnover amounted to almost NRs 36 billion in four trading sessions this week, which was 57.25 billion in six trading sessions last week. Last week, the index closed at 2,837.77 points.
